THE BRIDENSTINE CONCURRENCE

This could be a really long story.  Almost 250 years long.

But we will shorten it to the current chapter when Bob Fisher (Fish) and Chris Osmers (Oz)
became freshmen at Pomona College, east of Los Angeles in 1959.
Even then, the story will be a little LONG.

Before freeways, before handheld calculators and electric windows,
before stereo, VCRs, microwaves and audio cassettes,
before PCs, before CDs, before the internet, before email,
before LOTS OF THINGS! and MOST OF YOU!,
but somewhat after 1750,
the paths of Fish and Oz began to cross.

College graduation was in 1963, which the two Seniors barely squeaked through.

(We will leave out all the interim meanderings and wanderings and crossings
of those two paths, and jump to the present.)
 
A result of that 1963 graduation is a 40th Reunion in 2003
(this is important) on the first weekend in May.
Fish has never attended a Pomona Reunion.

Side-stepping now, to another part of the paths...
along with the idea of a College Reunion, goes the idea of a Family Reunion.

The Bridenstine Family, recently of Corona, east of Los Angeles, has a family reunion/picnic
(this is important) on the First Saturday of May every year.
It is an event that Fish has attended since 1996,
(except for the last couple of years)
and Holli, Don, and Gert (being Bridenstines) have attended
for as long as their memories can go.

So it was natural that Fish should mention to Oz that he would like to attend BOTH
the College Reunion and the Bridenstine Family Picnic on May 3, 2003

"WHOA!!!", says Oz,
"Bridenstine?  That's an unusual name.  My wife Lani has a cousin named Wayne Bridenstine.
Do you know a Wayne Bridenstine?
His father's name is Paul, and he has a brother Jim.
Do you know THAT WAYNE BRIDENSTINE?"

Holli's Dad, Don, as it happens, has a Bridenstine et al database with 10,000 names
and THAT WAYNE BRIDENSTINE is in it!

So here we are on March 8, 2003, in the midst of another meandering
of this Fish/Oz Path-Dance,

A dinner at the Outback in East Bremerton
with Oz, Lani, Ali, Wayne, Jane, Don, Gert, Bob & Holli
all meeting for the first time in 250 years.
