In late January of 2002,
Four Southerners came to visit The Northerners.

They came from Ahwatukee, Arizona, looking for snow.

They were not disappointed.

This is a chronicle of their visit -- January 24th to 30th, 2002

The Southerners arrived, of course, at SeaTac Airport on the morning of the first day. We spent a couple of days getting them "acclimated" and browsing our town and area.

Junior told his Phoenix teacher that he was
"going to a place where he could see it snow".
It did.
And we made a snowman.

<< The snowman lasted for two weeks. From the larger image, follow the link to see the slow demise of "Scotto the Snowman".

One morning we did a little present opening thing.
A White Christmas.

And, of course, we just HAD to drive up to Hurricane Ridge, into 10' of snow, for a little tubing fun.
Grandpa stayed on the road and took the pictures.
Grandma stayed home...
(Well, really, she went to work.)

A sentinel waits in the driveway as we arrive home late Sunday evening.

On Monday, it stopped snowing just so we could take a drive to Cape Flattery.
The scenery, the company, the food was better than Fine....

It's Tuesday now. One day left.
First a breakfast at BobnHolli's,
Then the Monteiros went sledding on our Gravel Road,
then pizza and linguini at Gordy's for dinner.
(Sorry, no pictures of sledding or Gordy's)

Now it's Wednesday, January 30th, 2002,
and the travelers must return to their Southern Oven.
We hope they will remember, when Phoenix goes over 110º,
where they can come to cool down.

After leaving the Monteiros and SeaTac, Holli and I drove home, looking in Port Orchard for the elusive USS Carl Vinson
