Saturday, June 5, 1999. Sylmar to Grant's Pass, Oregon.
If you are Table-Challenged, here is a MAP, but the table links to more photos than the map.
We left at 2:30 am, having discovered that the Interstate is virtually empty
of traffic until daylight. Also, there is not much to see for the first 300 miles, anyway. There is no photo of
our leaving. Sorry if this entry is misleading...
We always stop here to donate to the water table.
Gas and breakfast at MacDonald's.
Another "Rest" Stop.
This was a side trip. Nostalgia for Bob. In the summer of '62 (or maybe '61),
Bud Fisher and Bob, Steve Stepanian and Mike Germain, Chris Osmers and Gray Davis started a 4 day canoe adventure
on the Sacramento from here. Steppy, Oz, do either of you have photos from that trip? Oz, is "Gray Davis"
right? Or is my memory wrong?
We stopped here to look at house boats. You see, we were still thinking of
living on a boat in Sequim. Somewhere following this stop, however, we changed our minds.
This is the prettiest rest stop we can remember.
So here's another picture of it.
We arrived in Grant's Pass about 4:00 pm. After getting settled in our motel,
and after a large dinner, we decided Dairy Queen was in order.
