A week in Sequim In 1999
7 1/2 days starting Saturday, June 5, through Saturday, June 12, 1999.
So... We drove.
Our long range plan (before this trip) was to get a slip in the John Wayne Marina, and live out our days peacefully
webbing ourselves into oblivion, floating on a boat.
So... We went house/land-hunting.
The end result of this trip is that we made an offer on a 5 acre parcel sided by a creek, with lots of trees.
But building codes and development costs caused us to drop the escrow.
HERE'S THE 1999 ROAD TRIP...
The drive up to Washington took us three days.
House and Land hunting:
Saturday, June 5, 1999. We left Sylmar at 2:30 am and barreled up Interstate
5, ultimately arriving in Grant's Pass, Oregon at about 4:00 p.m.
Sunday, June 6, 1999. From Grant's Pass to Ocean Shores, Washington. About
8 hours of driving, from 8:00 am to 4:00 p.m.
Monday, June 7, 1999. From Ocean Shores to Sequim. With lots of side trips,
this leg of the trip took about 11 hours from 8:00 am to 7:00 p.m.
The piece of land we DIDN'T buy.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, June 8, 9 and 10. In and around Sequim. Looking
at houses and land, visiting real estate brokers, loan brokers, property management firms, and insurance agents.
Mostly looking at land and houses...
This is a series of photos of the dirt road leading to the property we did
not buy. About 1,500 feet of "driveway" curving through the trees.
Here is a photo of Mount Shasta, from somewhere along old Highway 99 around Yreka, California,
on the way home Friday, June 11.
It's the last photo.
We were pooped.
